How to choose a vehicle for your passengers and luggage

Count people and bags separately

Start with the number of travellers, including children. Then count standard check-in suitcases and hand luggage. A large suitcase, stroller, golf bag or wheelchair may use more space than a standard bag, so do not treat the published bag count as a promise for bulky items.

Our fleet pages show recommended passenger and standard-bag combinations. For example, the Alphard / Vellfire is listed for up to five guests and four standard bags; the V-Class for up to six guests and four standard bags. A saloon may feel more private for a small party, but its luggage capacity is lower.

Think about comfort, not just maximum capacity

If you are near a vehicle's published limit, leave a margin for carry-ons and the space a child seat needs. For a group with many suitcases, a van or coach can be a better choice even when an MPV has enough seats. Tell us about any mobility aid or unusual equipment before paying so the fit can be checked.

The booking form lets you compare vehicle categories and their upfront fares. A vehicle shown as available online still needs to suit the exact luggage mix you enter.

• Small party, light luggage: compare the E-Class and S-Class saloons.
• Family or small group: compare the Alphard / Vellfire and V-Class MPVs.
• Larger party or bulky luggage: review the HiAce, Sprinter, minibus or coach categories.

Before you book

Enter the true passenger and bag counts. If you are unsure about fit, send the team a short list of luggage sizes and special items. We would rather confirm a larger vehicle before checkout than discover a space problem at pickup.
